What is conveyancing?

Conveyancing is concerned with the legal mechanisms whereby the ownership of land or of an interest in land is transferred from one person to another.

To a lawyer, it is about how to transfer ownership in land, about the rights of the parties at different stages in real property transactions, and about their respective positions if things go wrong in the course of a transaction.
